Jonathan is based at Keltie’s Cambridge office.

Jonathan’s experience covers drafting and prosecution of patent applications, EPO Opposition and Appeal proceedings and validity and freedom-to-operate opinions. Jonathan manages a number of global patent portfolios for start-ups and SME clients providing clients with strategic, value-driven advice. Jonathan has been involved with due diligence exercises for investment rounds, acquisition and licensing, and listing on the UK AIM stock exchange and the Nasdaq in the US.

Jonathan’s practice has a particular focus on start-up and spin-out companies and works closely with universities and companies in, or associated with, early stage incubators/accelerators.

Jonathan has experience in a wide range of technology areas including agri-tech, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, therapeutic treatments, personal care devices, medical devices, medical diagnostics, healthcare, biotechnology, regenerative stem cell therapies, food packaging, gene-editing (CRISPR), CAR-T cell-based therapies, materials, catalysts, oil and gas, coal technologies and cosmetics.

Jonathan also has an extensive registered design practice and handles the portfolios of European and UK registered designs for a number of household-name international clients.

Prior to joining Keltie in 2011, Jonathan was a principal chemist at GlaxoSmithKline and has almost 10 years experience of working in the pharmaceutical sector in the epigenetic, immuno-inflammation, cardiovascular and respiratory disease areas.

Jonathan received a first class honours degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge before gaining a PhD in organic chemistry with post-doctoral experience at the distinguished École Polytechnique, Paris, France.
