The Keltie engineering team brings together patent attorneys with a wide range of technical and commercial backgrounds. Our work covers all typical engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, automotive, and aerospace engineering, and many more. We often work with technologies that lie at the interface between these engineering disciplines and other technology areas such as mathematics, software, chemistry, biology and materials. The team includes attorneys with backgrounds in different branches of engineering, as well as in complementary fields including mathematics, physics, computer science, and materials.
We are seeking a new member to join the profession and our team as a trainee.
The successful candidate will work in subject matter areas including control engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, and computer-implemented inventions.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will become involved in working with our developing workload relating to technologies involving Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning. Therefore, while specific prior experience in these fields is not required, candidates should at least have the skills and interest to work and develop their knowledge in this area.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding academic background in a scientific or engineering discipline and will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of how technology works in their fields of interest. Other key qualities include excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, an entrepreneurial drive, and a personable attitude. The candidate should be comfortable with the responsibility of interacting with clients directly as well as being confident enough to foster new business relationships.
An ideal candidate will have a background in a relevant engineering discipline, mathematics, computer science or physics, and have gained at least a 2:1 in their first degree. It would be advantageous for the candidate to have a PhD and/or relevant work experience.
Importantly, the candidate will need to be a confident communicator, happy to engage with our direct client base and have the energy and enthusiasm to help foster new relationships.
The successful candidate will be supported through the process of qualification to become a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney.
A competitive salary and benefits will be offered.
It is envisaged that the role will be based primarily in our London office. The option to work remotely for part of the week will be available.
We uphold the highest standards in our work, serving our clients with a unique blend of energy and professionalism. The pride we feel in our firm is surpassed only by our excitement for what we plan to achieve together.
This position is not eligible for sponsorship and therefore it is not suitable for candidates who require sponsorship. Proof of right to work in the UK is requirement for this role.
