Keeping it simple

In fact, simplicity is what it is all about. Intellectual property is complex enough without advisers adding to the confusion. We are here to define what matters: to get to the heart of a brand, the essence of an invention, the crux of a dispute. Everything we say is for a purpose: padding just gets in the way.

Our style is refreshingly direct and our approach is positive. When telling our clients all the things they can do, we always say what they should do - even if sometimes that is to do nothing. We point out the risks but we don't paralyse our advice with caution. Our job is to stay off the fence and give direction. We know exactly where we stand. When we have given our advice, our clients know exactly where they stand too.

Of course, what we do is far from simple. Our profession contains many specialisms, both technical and legal. We have specialists, indeed strength in depth, in every technology and in every area of intellectual property law. But focus on detail is nothing without the ability to see the broader picture. We know that our work is far-reaching: some businesses are built upon - even saved by - what we do. While poring over every word, our specialists keep sight of the story.
