Shakeel (Shak) heads up Keltie's IT, Telecoms and Electronics team and advises on patent issues regarding various areas of technology, but spends most of his time with inventions related to his specialist fields.
Shak has specific experience and interest in Internet-related inventions, software-related technology, computer graphics generation, mobile telecommunications, digital audio and video processing, data encryption and security, business methods including e-commerce financial exchanges, electronic instrumentation, medical human parameter measurement devices, data communications including messaging technology, banknote validation, microprocessor design and optical data storage.
His practice is a mixture of drafting and prosecuting patent applications around the world to grant, litigating patents in the UK and US, and undertaking due diligence for various M&A and IPO activities. Shak enjoys the diversity of working for a range of clients from large corporates to start-up companies; each requiring a different skill set for maximising the commercial benefits of various national patent laws.
Keltie's IT, Telecoms and Electronics team is praised by the 2008 Legal 500 for its "exceptionally fine work".

Shak joined Keltie in 1997, becoming a partner in 2000.
Before joining Keltie, Shak was a Technical Assistant with an established firm of London-based patent and trade mark attorneys. He qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 1995 and a Chartered Patent Attorney in 1997.
Shak has a background in electrical and electronic engineering and software-related technology. From 1984 to 1987, he read Electronics with Computer Science at University College Swansea, University of Wales and graduated as a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours. He then went to the University of Sussex to undertake research in the field of Biomedical Engineering. Shak was awarded a doctorate (DPhil) for his research.
Shak is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. He is also a member of the International Technology Law Association
