Jakob is bilingual in English and German. He specialises in patent matters relating to chemical technology such as polymers, pharmaceuticals, food science, printing and toiletries, but also works on mechanical inventions. His core activities include drafting, filing and prosecuting UK, European and International patent applications and representing clients before the European Patent Office in Opposition and Appeal proceedings. Additionally, Jakob has particular experience in UK patent litigation, the strategic management of worldwide IP portfolios, the drafting of patent infringement and validity opinions, and the restoration of patents.

Designs are also an important part of Jakob's caseload. He regularly files UK and Community registered design applications and has advised on the infringement of both registered and unregistered design rights.
