The UKIPO has launched a ‘Green Channel’ to accelerate prosecution of UK patent applications relating to environmentally-friendly technologies.
To enter the Green Channel, the applicant must make a request in writing, advising that its application relates to an environmentally-friendly technology and stating specifically which action(s) it wishes to accelerate: search; combined search and examination; publication and/or examination.
If all of the above actions are accelerated from the filing stage, the UKIPO could grant a UK patent in as little as nine months.
